Mary Scarpinato Associate Attorney

Mary Scarpinato is an Associate Attorney at Leach | King | Klinger Law, where she focuses on representing individuals and businesses in a broad range of civil disputes. She handles matters from pre-suit investigation through trial and resolution.

Prior to joining Leach King & Klinger, Mary practiced at Ganan & Shapiro, P.C., where she represented employers and insurance carriers in workers’ compensation and subrogation matters before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, Circuit Courts, and Appellate Courts. In that role, she conducted physician and expert depositions, negotiated settlements, and advocated on behalf of clients throughout all phases of litigation.

Before entering private practice, Mary served as a judicial law clerk for the 7th Judicial District of Iowa, where she drafted judicial opinions and orders in both criminal and civil matters and worked closely with judges on legal research and case analysis.

Mary earned her Juris Doctor from The University of Iowa College of Law, where she received the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence for Spring 2023, Mark and Marilyn Wunder Nonprofit Excellence Award, Willard L. Boyd Public Service Distinction Highest Service Honors, GFWC/Iowa Phyllis Hughes Memorial Law School Scholarship, and the John F. Kapacinskas Memorial Scholarship.

During law school, she served as the Inaugural Senior Online Editor for the Journal of Corporation Law, participated in the Jessup International Moot Court Competition, served on the board of the Iowa Student Bar Association, the board of the Organization of Women Law Students and Staff, the Dean of Students Advisory Board, was a Research Assistant, a Student Ambassador, and a Peer Advisor. She also interned with the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois, worked for Kids First Law Center, was a summer associate at Beermann LLP, and participated in the London Law Program.

Mary is committed to developing efficient litigation strategies tailored to each client’s objectives, with an emphasis on clear communication and practical problem-solving.
